OnePlus unveiled its first activity tracker, the OnePlus Band, featuring heart rate and blood oxygen saturation sensors, fitness and sleep monitoring, and a battery capacity of up to 2 weeks. It functions with Android upon launch, but not iOS; OnePlus says that iPhone functionality will be introduced later. The OnePlus Band will be available in India starting on January 13th for a total of 2,499 (about $34), but a global release has yet to be confirmed.
This new company recently came out with the OnePlus Band, which brought with itself something other than wireless headphones and TVs and mobiles, they brought a smart band. The watch appears specifically built for fitness, thanks to its ability to monitor heart rate and blood oxygen levels, and its support for 13 workout modes. However, it also includes sleep monitoring and can serve as a phone accessory with alarm support, as well as music playback and camera shutter controls.
The band known as OnePlus Band, has a 1.1” rectangular shaped monitor in OLED, giving an impressive 126 x 294 resolution and a brace made of silicone. The band comes in different colors such as navy, black, as well as tangerine gray—complementing with a water resistance and dust resistance, with a IP68 rating. Its rating of 5ATM means that it is water resistant up to 50 meters in depth for 10 minutes. From within, there’s a 100mAh battery that OnePlus claims can give up to two weeks of battery capacity.
The OnePlus Band is handled through the OnePlus Health app, which is now available for Android, and which OnePlus advertises can evaluate health information and be used to set personal health goals. Although, because of the “best result” OnePlus says you can pair the ensemble with the OnePlus smartphone. The OnePlus Health app for iOS is due to arrive after the band is released.
